DQ Farm
This blog is maintained by HS Wong.
DQ Farm's HS Wong, was a former corporate executive sitting on the board of some of the largest public companies in Malaysia.
He is now a full-time, hands-on farmer working hard to provide affordable healthy food. He is building a model of sustainable farming to help farmers achieve a good income from a small piece of land. He is targetting a net income of RM3000 to RM5000 per month from an acre of land.
He is currently working on providing for free, charcoal retorts together with education and training on how to use the charcoal in farming, to 10,000 villages in Malaysia and Indonesia. The intention is to help reduce CO2 in the atmosphere the fastest way possible - by burying the carbon for farming.
DQ Farm provides technical farming services to Bestari Bersatu Sdn. Bhd., the company behind DQ "Clean" Chicken and Ayam Kampung Al-Masyhur.
He built the Sustainable Living Centre in 1997 as a free education centre on urban permaculture and sustainable living. He was a little ahead of his times and had to close down the centre in 2004 due to lack of support. The Centre now lives on in the Internet.
He continues to run a sanctuary for the Red Jungle Fowl. Here's the website: www.junglefowl.org.
Here's a Malaysian who took the unconventional route and build a sanctuary for stressed out humans in Bali: http://theplace.blogspirit.com
